Fort Wayne, Indiana
Items We Cannot Accept
A short list of hazardous and regulated materials that licensed haulers are not allowed to dispose of. Everything else is fair game.
- Paint, solvents, and household chemicals
- Motor oil, fuel, antifreeze, and propane tanks
- Asbestos or suspected asbestos material
- Biohazard, medical, or sharps waste
- Ammunition, explosives, and fireworks
- Wet or contaminated animal waste
- Radioactive material
- Vehicle batteries and loose tires (case by case)
Where to take these materials instead
Allen County residents can use the county's household hazardous waste program for paint, chemicals, and automotive fluids. Tires and vehicle batteries are usually accepted by local auto retailers and scrap yards. Medical and sharps waste should go through a pharmacy or medical disposal program. If you are not sure, ask us and we will point you in the right direction even if it is not a job we can take.
